WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973, and on March 9th of that year – a bombshell dropped during the Joseph Yablonski Erie murder trial - special prosecutor Richard Sprague implicated United Mine Workers president Tony Boyle as the one who provided the money to pay for the murder of Yablonski and his family.

This Day in History is presented by Chronicles, which is available online at WQLN.org and on PBS Passport.
