WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973, and on March 8th of that year – the Fairview volunteer fire department hosted a country music concert to fund a new ambulance. The show featured performances from national headliners Bob Luman, the Osborne Brothers, and Clem Appleknocker.

This Day in History is presented by Chronicles, which is available online at WQLN.org and on PBS Passport.
