WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973, and on March 7th of that year – the City of Erie Housing Bureau reported that in just 12 months, they had demolished 199 structures in and around downtown Erie. 116 sixteen of those buildings were abandoned homes.

This Day in History is presented by Chronicles, which is available online at WQLN.org and on PBS Passport.
