WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973, and on March 2nd of that year – WRIE’s morning host Oogie Pringle spent most of his program interviewing Doc Severrensen. Pringle was less interested in jazz and more interested in what the real Johnny Carson was like to work with.

This Day in History is presented by Chronicles, which is available online at WQLN.org and on PBS Passport.
