WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973, and on February 28th of that year – Eight Fire Companies fought a downtown Fredonia, New York fire. The Village Square Restaurant, Hunters Newsstand, the Masonic Temple and clothing shop, Love of Pete Variety store, and the Town and Country Furniture store were all destroyed in the blaze.
