WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973, and on February 19th of that year – Hamot Medical Center announced it would begin offering abortions at an outpatient facility. The announcement followed a Supreme Court decision on the 14th amendment in the case of Row versus Wade. Hamot was the first Pennsylvania Hospital to offer such services.

This Day in History is presented by Chronicles on WQLN PBS.
