WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On November 2nd of that year, Presque Isle State Park was severely damaged by high winds and waves. Special grout-filled bags, strategically placed to protect beaches, were all washed out to sea.
This Day in History is presented by the Emmy-nominated history series Chronicles, airing Trade by the Lake, followed by Counter Balance tonight on WQLN PBS and on our TV app - Passport.
