Our world as we know it has radically changed, and WQLN PBS recognizes the need to make adjustments to the way children traditionally learn. Whether your child is learning at home or inside a classroom, WQLN PBS is committed to supporting students, parents and educators. In conjunction with Pennsylvania PBS, all seven PBS stations, WQLN PBS is excited to share quality educational resources, engaging activities, and PBS programming to help supplement your student’s learning. Teachers, parents, caregivers: please explore! We are in this #TogetherPennsylvania.

LEARNING AT HOME

Resources

WQLN HOMEROOM
WQLN Homeroom

Some parents have made the tough decision to keep their preschooler home during the pandemic, but preschoolers need the basics to help prepare them for kindergarten. What can parents do? WQLN Homeroom can be used as a resource to supplement their child’s education. A new team of WQLN PBS educators will share Pre-K lessons, starting January 25, Monday through Friday from 3:00 to 3:30pm on WQLN PBS 54.1.
SOUNDER & FRIENDS
Sounder & Friends

Sounder & Friends™ follows the adventures of a mischievous raccoon who uses magic to switch sounds. By switching the sounds in a word, the raccoon changes the object and creates chaos! Sounder, a lovable dog, and her human friends go searching for the original sounds to restore order and save the day! Colorful and entertaining for young children, Sounder & Friends™ is particularly unique in that it promotes the little-known skill of phonemic awareness—a skill critical for proficient reading.

WHAT IS DATACASTING?
What is Datacasting?

While broadcasting refers to sending programming “over-the-air” across a geographic region that can be picked up by an antenna and played on a television, datacasting refers to using those same signals to securely transmit data that can be used by a computer. If a home can receive a television signal, it can also receive the data signal.
STEM ADVENTURE
Go On a STEM Adventure with WQLN PBS

This summer, take a walk on the wild side, and join the WQLN PBS STEM Adventure! WQLN PBS and PAIU are working together to bring you summer learning resources to do at home as you discover nature, right in your neighborhood.
Covid-19 Resources
Covid-19 Resources

With all the news about COVID-19 – the coronavirus – it can be hard to know what to say to children and it can be difficult to know how to ease their concerns. To help you ease your child’s anxieties and help them learn to handle scary situations, we have compiled these resources from PBS Kids.
