Collegiate Challenge History

And then there were Seven! 2009 saw the addition of LECOM to WQLN Radio’s scholarly themed Collegiate Challenge fundraiser. This year, please join us in welcoming Pitt Titusville to our friendly and fun competition! This 2010 fundraiser unites our local colleges and universities as well as WQLN Radio with one commonality in mind--to ignite within our communities the thirst for knowledge, culture, discovery and service. And this year, your donation will help make history! Every dollar pledged counts toward our record setting goal—the highest since the inception of the Collegiate Challenge! 7 schools, 11 days, $100,000 to raise—let the games begin!

October marks WQLN Radio's fall fundraiser, The Collegiate Challenge! For the first time ever, seven local colleges (Mercyhurst, Penn State Behrend, Allegheny, Gannon, Edinboro and our new contender—Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine!) will unite in support of the programs heard on FM 93.1. Pledge your support today online. Your donation in any amount will help fund the expensive programs you rely on everyday. Pledge in the name of your favorite participating school and increase their vantage to rise victorious!

2008 marked the first season TWO TROPHIES were awarded! One trophy was given to the school who raised the most money for public radio overall and a second trophy was given to the school who had the greatest increase over their previous year’s total.

2009 Winners:
Most Improved:
Penn State Erie—increased overall total by 23% over 2008

Most Dollars Raised:
Edinboro University—raised $22,477 on behalf of Public Radio

Remember, when you make your donation to WQLN Radio, do it in the name of your favorite school and help your school rise to victory—and possibly one, or both, of TWO coveted trophies!

*As a first year contender, LECOM will not be eligible for the Most Improved Trophy until next year.
