Penn Brewery
Tom Pastorius once told a very simple truth about why he opened a microbrewery and why it brews the kinds of beers it does. "Penn Brewing exists to make beers that I like," he said. Those beers are German-style lagers, and Tom's brewery makes some of the best in the United States.

Sprague Farm & Brew Works
The place is phenomenal, the beer has definite promise. The Ale Mary Wheat, a wit-like offering with coriander, orange peel, peppercorns and juniper, is pretty damned good now. But don't hold your breath on "farmhouse-style" ales in the classic sense: they've had a rush of sense and realized that they'll have to sell to their local market first. Porter is going to be exotic for a while.
