Theresa Pfister nominated teacher, Ms. Stewart
Mercyhurst Preparatory School
Theresa graduated Mercyhurst Preparatory school. She had Ms. Stewart for English class and said that “Ms. Stewart’s classroom is a safe haven, where I am guaranteed to laugh and enjoy learning”. Theresa had Ms. Stewart for two years and says she has learned a tremendous amount from her in that short time. She says that she will be an English major in the fall so that she too can change people’s lives just as Ms. Stewart has changed hers.
Kara Knickerbocker nominated teacher, Mr. Hetrcik
Saegertown High School
Kara graduated Saegertown High School. Kara was a student in Mr. Hetrick’s English classes before but was it not until her senior year that she “discovered one of our small town school’s most brilliant teachers”. She always knew she wanted to be a writer, but it was Mr. Hetrick who gave her the confidence she needed to enter poetry contests and major in creative writing. Kara also states that Mr. Hetrick has a wonderful sense of humor, which keeps the class laughing and learning all at the same time.
Paul Kaspick nominated teacher, Mrs. Anderton
Saegertown High School
Paul graduated Saegertown High School. Paul had Mrs. Anderton as his teacher and his advisor, yet he has come to know her as his “hero”. She helped Paul to realize his abilities as a writer and has guided him through the process of writing a children’s book. Paul said “I truly hope that every student has the opportunity to have a teacher like Mrs. Anderton”.
