Visit the Amish of Holmes County

Holmes County, Ohio, has the largest Amish population in the world. Of the county’s 40,000 people, almost 18,000 of them are Amish. We’ll experience the uniqueness of the community of Charm and stop by the Ohio Trail for some real bologna! We’ll shop for bargains at the Holmes County Amish Flea Market and tour the county seat of Millersburg. Next we’ll stroll around the quaint shops of Berlin and catch the view from Walnut Creek. Step back in time as you see farms worked by teams of horses and pass horse-drawn buggies along the way. Roadside stands, produce markets, and Amish homes offering homemade goods are everywhere in Holmes County!

Hywet House & West Side Market

Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens is the former American Country Estate of F.A. Seiberling, co-founder of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. The estate features a historic 65-room Tudor Revival manor house, Gothic Revival conservatory, Gate Lodge (birthplace of Alcoholics Anonymous) and approximately 70 acres of artistically landscaped grounds and formal gardens.

With origins dating back to 1840, the West Side Market is Cleveland’s oldest publicly owned market. Today the market is home to over 100 vendors of great diversity. You can find not only fine meats and fresh vegetables, but also fresh seafood, baked goods, dairy and cheese products, and even fresh flowers. There are also booths that sell ready-to-eat foods, herbs, candy, and nuts.

Flight 93 Memorial & Covered Bridge Tour

A common field one day. A field of honor forever.

On Tuesday morning, September 11, 2001, the U.S. came under attack when four commercial airliners were hijacked and used to strike targets on the ground. Nearly 3,000 people tragically lost their lives. Because of the actions of the 40 passengers and crew aboard one of the planes, United Airlines Flight 93, the attack on the U.S. capital was thwarted. Join us as we tour the memorial and spend time at the visitor center. After lunch, we’ll take a tour of the covered bridges in the area including Glessner, New Baltimore, Packsaddle, and Trostletown.
